JEANNY. Die Wiener Band Jeanny kehrt ihr Innerstes nach außen. Zwischen Indie, Post-Punk und -Hardcore verarbeiten die fünf Musiker Persönliches bis Persönlichstes mit einer Ehrlichkeit, die sich oft wie eine kalte Dusche anfühlt. Dass sich die Musik Jeannys trotz kompromisslosem Sound und schonungslosen Texten dennoch nie in Aggressivität auflöst, ist vor allem ihrem sensiblen Songwriting und der Trompete von Bernhard Schrenk geschuldet, die den sanften Gegenpol zum rifflastigen Gittarenspiel und dem Sprech- bis Schreigesang von Songwriter Pablo Scheuhammer bildet. Gemeinsam mit Fabian Novakovics (Bass), Christoph Kerschhackel (Schlagzeug) und Daniel Mahkovec (Synthesizer, Gitarre) veröffentlichten sie im Oktober 2023 ihr zweites Album und haben dabei keine Angst, auch mal da hinzugehen wo’s weh tut.

INDIREKT GRELL. Die Rosenheimer Band Indirekt Grell ist irgendwie Post Punk in klassischer Triobesetzung und doch kommt der Sound anfangs unerwartet. Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt bei der jungen Gruppe aus der süddeutschen Provinz auf dem künstlerischen Ausdruck. Erlaubt ist alles was gefällt. So zeugen die Texte von Abstraktion und die Musik von sphärischen Klangwolken bis dröhnendem DIY-Lärm. Live klingt das schwebend aber auch griffig. Unkonkret konkret. Laut aber auch leise. Die Gegensätze sind, was die Band besonders reizt. Konventionen zu brechen.

JEANNY. The Viennese band Jeanny turns their innermost feelings outwards. Between indie, post-punk and post-hardcore, the five musicians process the personal to the most intimate with an honesty that often feels like a cold shower. The fact that Jeanny’s music never dissolves into aggression, despite its uncompromising sound and unsparing lyrics, is primarily due to their sensitive songwriting and Bernhard Schrenk’s trumpet, which forms a gentle counterpoint to the riff-heavy guitar playing and the spoken and screamed vocals of songwriter Pablo Scheuhammer. Together with Fabian Novakovics (bass), Christoph Kerschhackel (drums) and Daniel Mahkovec (synthesizer, guitar), they released their second album in October.
INDIREKT GRELL. The Rosenheim band Indirekt Grell is somehow post-punk in a classic trio line-up and yet the sound comes unexpected at first. The main focus of the young group from the southern German province is on artistic expression. Anything that appeals is allowed. The lyrics are abstract and the music ranges from spherical clouds of sound to booming DIY noise. Live, it sounds floating but also catchy. Unconcretely concrete. Loud but also quiet. The contrasts are what particularly excite the band. Breaking conventions.
